About Me
Hi!
My name is Lin Kristensen. I'm fifteen years old and a sophomore a
Communications
High School [and secretary of the
Photography Club there].
I am
in LOVE with photography. I love looking at,
editing, and taking photos. I
discovered my passion for photography when I
was 14,
thanks in great part to my
inspiration, Ana. =] I love learning new things
about
photography, discovering new
techniques, trying new things, getting ideas,
and
especially getting inspiration from
other photos. I really don't know what
else to say
about myself.. so.. yea. =] If you
have any questions or comments or
anything feel
free to contact me. I'd be happy
to talk.
GOALS
I plan on graduating from CHS and going to Brookdale Community College with
the NJ Stars program, then transfer to a state college on a scholarship. My
dream is
to one day become a fashion photographer. Of all the different fields of
photography I love fashion photography best because: 1) It's so unique and
creative and artistic. 2) I absolutely love fashion; it's just such a
great way to
express yourself and be different. and 3) Since I was young I had wanted to
be a
model [and still would love to]. I very often use myself as my own model in
portraits,
but by doing so I've realized that I love being behind the camera. By being
a
fashion photographer I would still be able to be surrounded with fashion but
get to
do what I really enjoy. Hopefully in the future I'd be able to intern at a
fashion
magazine [ideally for my favorite magazine, Teen Vogue] to experience the
industry and really get to see what goes on in the photoshoots. I'm still
young so I
know there will be many opportunities for me to learn and expand and I'm
looking
greatly forward to it. =)
EQUIPMENT
To
shoot I use my:
~ Nikon D80 (excellent camera.)
~ 18-200mm VR zoom lens (really great, best
lens I've ever used)
~ UV filter (works amazingly, I recommend it to
anyone who takes outdoor photos)
~ Panasonic DMC-FX01 (my first ever camera,
basic point-and-shoot, GREAT macro)
~ Tripod (very helpful for self portraits or
longer exposures)
~ 2GB
memory card (the more space, the more pictures, the
merrier)
~ Photoshop CS2 (LOVE, so many possibilities)
MY PHILOSOPHY
It’s
important for the picture to have good lighting and composition and all that
technical stuff but I think the most important aspect is the deeper meaning
of the
photograph. I like to get messages across in my pictures, unspoken messages
that
can only be described by seeing the picture. That’s why I LOVE photography.
It’s a
way of expression like no other. Just like music [which I also love & take
inspiration
from] photography can make you feel any emotion. To be able to pack a
feeling
into a 2-dimensional image is truly art. There’s no way to precisely
describe the
feeling in the picture. Each person can take a different view from the
picture and
may feel a personal connection to the picture that may even take them back
to a
time or feeling they are experiencing or have experienced in the past.
Photography
is a connection between the photographer, the subject, and the viewer, as
I’m
sure any other photographer would agree.
